Liverpool are poised to seal a loan deal to bring Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones to Anfield, according to the Daily Mail.
Rafa Benitez reportedly may even tie up the deal today, in order to make Jones available for Liverpool's clash with Tottenham at Anfield on Wednesday.
Jones has scored 23 goals for the Black Cats since his move from Southampton in 2007 but has seen Darren Bent take over his mantle as top striker on Wearside this season.
Meanwhile, the Reds have been rocked by the latest injury suffered by star striker Fernando Torres , which will see him sidelined for six weeks. In addition to providing cover for Torres, bringing Jones to Anfield would certainly add a fresh physical dimension to Liverpool's game. Jones' six goals so far this season would make him Liverpool's second top Premier League goalscorer.
The 6ft 1in striker has been rumoured to be leaving Sunderland for some time and the Black Cats reportedly turned down a recent £9m bid for the Trinidadian from Birmingham City.
