Unsettled Sunderland midfielder Stephane Sessegnon has emerged as a shock target for Liverpool.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed in upturn in fortunes, along with the Black Cats as a whole, since the arrival of Martin O'Neill, but is struggling to adapt to life in England.
The £7million man is yet to move his wife and five children to the North East and has been linked with a switch back to France with Marseille or PSG, from whom he was signed a year ago.
According to Metro, Liverpool are willing to put together a package that suits both player and his family in a bid to convince him to remain in the Premier League.
Sessegnon has been forced to play in a far more advanced role at the Stadium of Light than the one he is most used to operating in, but has still scored four goals.
However both Sunderland and Champions League-chasing Liverpool are wildly apart on their valuation of the Benin international. Liverpool are prepared to open the bidding at £8m with Sessegnon's current club looking to at least double their money of him.
O'Neill wants to meet with the player and his agent this week.
