Spanish daily newspaper Super Deporte is reporting that Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is looking to seal a deal for Valencia's Spanish international winger Juan Mata.
According to the paper, Roy is waiting until the deal with NESV and John W Henry for the £300m takeover of Liverpool is finalised, before planning his targets for the January window, but if the deal does go ahead, Hodgson will look to Mata as a target.
The paper also believes that Reds forward Ryan Babel could be used as a makeweight in the deal for the Spanish international.
The winger has been struggling to negotiate a new contract with the Spanish club for the past few months and maybe allowed to leave if an agreement can't be reached.
