I DONT think Javier Mascherano could complain about his red card at Fratton Park, writes Ian Rush.
It wasnt malicious but he was late and his foot was high.
If Mascherano had been able to get straight back up I think he may have got away with a yellow.
But with him being down for so long having treatment it gave Lee Mason time to have a long discussion with the fourth official, who I think may have seen it again on a monitor.
The fact that Mascherano picked up a knee injury was more bad luck and were going to miss him.
But his absence over the next few weeks presents a chance for someone else and they need to grab it with both hands.
I'm really disappointed with Manchester Citys decision to sack Mark Hughes.
Mark is a good friend of mine and a talented manager, who was doing a decent job.
City are sixth in the league, in the semi-finals of the Carling Cup and have only lost two games all season.
What more did the club expect?
It took Alex Ferguson four years to win a trophy at United, but at a top club now youre lucky to get five months before you are under intense pressure.
The demands for instant success are unrealistic.
You have to build something up and thats what Mark was doing.
I'm glad that things are done differently at Liverpool.
You can't keep chopping and changing and you have to stick with someone.
The Liverpool tradition is to give every manager the chance to turn things around and thats what makes the club so special.
