After once again missing out on a place in the starting line-up in Manchester City's 0-0 draw with former club Arsenal, Emmanuel Adebayor is even more desperate to leave Eastlands.
The Togo striker has fallen completely out of favour with City boss Roberto Mancini and his relationship with the rest of the squad has come under scrutiny after a training ground bust-up with with Kolo Toure.
Both Liverpool and Tottenham are in the market for a new striker and it seems the pair are both interested in convincing City to let the striker join on loan.
Spurs are expected to lose Robbie Keane in the coming weeks and Harry Redknapp sees the former Arsenal man as the perfect replacement to help the club finish in the top four and progress in the Champions League.
Liverpool are also hoping to bring the powerful forward to Anfield, but amid speculation that Roy Hodgson could be shown the door a deal could depend on the former Fulham boss keeping his job.
After last nights 3-1 defeat at the hands of Blackburn, Liverpool will be hoping to bring the 26-year-old to Merseyside, however they may struggle to meet the players wage demands.
Adebayor is currently on £160,000 a week at City, a sizable wage that Liverpool may struggle to meet. Despite this stumbling block a move to Anfield would be the preferred option for Mancini who does not want to see the player at fellow title rivals Tottenham.
Liverpool have also been linked with a move for unhappy Aston Villa midfielder Stephen Ireland. The former Manchester City maestro has declared that he wants to leave Villa Park and could cost as little as £4 million.
