Liverpool are battling it out with Roma to sign Atletico Madrid striker Adrian Lopez, according to sources in Spain.
Roma boss Rudi Garcia, whose side sit atop Serie A following a sensational start to the season, wants to bolster his attacking options in the January transfer window.
He is believed to have lined up a move for out-of-favour Adrian, who is currently behind Diego Costa and David Villa in Diego Simeone's forward pecking order this term.
However the 25-year-old, who has been capped twice for Spain at senior level, is also thought to be attracting serious interest from Liverpool, while he has been tracked by Arsenal in the past.
Adrian, who has just over 18 months left on his current deal, is valued at around £7m - and Rodgers could move for him in the New Year.
