Liverpool will face competition to sign Dani Parejo this summer as Atletico Madrid have revived their interest in the Valencia midfielder.
talkSPORT told you back in March that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has identified Parejo as the man to bolster his midfield. Liverpool's chief scout Barry Hunter has been over to Spain to watch the 25-year-old in action this season.
Parejo has had an excellent campaign for Valencia and has made key contributions in some of the club's biggest fixtures - he scored in the 3-2 win at Barcelona in February and netted in the 2-2 draw at Real Madrid last weekend.
Atletico Madrid considered making a move for him last year and sources in Spain claim that manager Diego Simeone is now expected to return for him this summer.
Valencia regard the former Real Madrid man as an indispensable first-team player, but the matter could be out of their hands if Liverpool or Atletico activate his £20.5m release clause fee.
Parejo, who had a brief spell on loan at QPR in 2008, has scored five goals in 44 outings in all competitions this season.
