Telegraph: Milner is top target

Liverpool have made Manchester City midfielder James Milner their top target, according to the Times.

The England international is out of contract in the summer and Liverpool are planning for life after Steven Gerrard by pursuing a move for Milner.

Liverpool are said to be in pole position to land Milner after contract talks at City broke down.

The club may be willing to wait until the summer to make their move and sign the player on a free, but could be forced to move quickly this month if rival clubs also sound out Milner about a possible move.
