The surprise return of Fernando Torres yesterday has led to reports in Spain that the Liverpool striker will be included in Vicente del Bosque's squad for an upcoming friendly.
Torres played 15 minutes of Liverpool's 0-0 draw with Manchester City yesterday after 39 days out with a knee cartilage injury which was operated on.
The former Atletico Madrid striker is now expected to be included in the Spain squad for the friendly match with France on March 3 much to the chagrin of Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez who will be eager to keep him fresh for the end of the season.
"El Nino" has previously picked up injuries whilst playing for Spain, most notably his groin problem in October.
Despite having no impact in the 15 minutes he played at Eastlands, Torres is now expected to play a part in Liverpool's upcoming matches against Unirea Urziceni and Blackburn.
Torres has made 20 appearances for Liverpool in 2009/2010, scoring 12 goals.
