Gregory Vignal is raring to return to Anfield on Monday night after admitting: "I should have never left Liverpool," writes the Birmingham Mail.
Although he made only a handful of appearances for the Reds, Vignal has fond memories of his time in Merseyside.
The Blues defender spent five years with Liverpool but it was a period that also included loan spells to four different clubs.
Having struggled to make his mark, the tough-tackling defender eventually opted to join Portsmouth but he has failed to settle properly at a host of other clubs.
Now, as he prepares finally to gain some consistency at Blues, the left-back regrets the day he walked away from Liverpool.
"It was a massive mistake," confessed the Frenchman. "But life is like this sometimes, you have to keep going.
"I've played for a few clubs but Liverpool are a massive club and when you play for a club like that you want to stay because everything is great.
"I don't know if I will play (on Monday night) but going back to Liverpool is a game I want to play in.
"I had great years there, so that would be fantastic for me, but it's up to the gaffer."
