FK Rabotnicki are based in Skopje, the capital of the Republic of Macedonia.
Formed in 1937, 'The Railway Boys' claimed 10 league titles prior to the country declaring independence from Yugoslavia in 1991.
Since then they have competed in the Macedonian Premier League and after a lean spell Rabotnicki have re-established themselves as one of the nation's top clubs.
They won the championship in 2005 and 2006 and after doing the double in 2008 they clinched the Macedonian Cup for a second time in 2009.
Last season they secured their passage into Europe by finishing second in the league.
In 2005 their Champions League hopes were dashed at the second qualifying round stage by Lokomotiv Moscow.
Twelve months later they went a step further and knocked out Hungarians Debreceni before losing 4-0 on aggregate to Lille.
On two occasions - 2006 and 2007 - they reached the first round proper of the UEFA Cup but were dumped out by Basel and Bolton.
In last season's Europa League they beat Crusaders of Northern Ireland 5-3 on aggregate in the second qualifying round but then lost to Odense 7-3.
Zoran Stratev's men have already battled through four matches to set up tonight's third qualifying round clash.
Andora's Lusitanos were thrashed 5-0 and 6-0 before Rabotnicki sneaked past Armenia's Mika 1-0 on aggregate.
Their stadium - the Philip II Arena - has a capacity of 35,000 but it attracted just 1,000 supporters for the first leg with Mika.
The showdown with Liverpool has generated much greater interest with the club's website hailing the tie as "spectacular news that shocked Skopje and spread through the capital with the speed of light".
Coach Stratev said: "We are aware that Liverpool are 99% favourites, even in Skopje, but I can promise we will give our best."
