Zeljko Buvac joined Liverpool's backroom team as first assistant coach in October 2015.
The Bosnian moved to the Reds upon Jürgen Klopp's appointment as manager along with Peter Krawietz.
Buvac and Klopp have been close friends since playing alongside each other at FC Mainz in the early 1990s.
An attacking midfielder, he also represented Rudar Ljubija, Banja Luka, Rot-Weiss Erfurt and Neukirchen before hanging up his boots at the age of 36.
It was at Neukirchen where he took his first steps into the coaching world, before he moved to Mainz as assistant to Klopp in 2001.
Over the course of the next seven years, Buvac played his part in helping Mainz achieve promotion to the Bundesliga for the first time and European qualification.
When Klopp was appointed as Borussia Dortmund manager in 2008, he was keen to bring his assistant with him. It was at the Westfalenstadion where their philosophy really began to blossom.
Back-to-back Bundesliga titles were achieved in 2011 and 2012, while BVB also achieved their first ever league and German Cup double in the latter.
In 2013, and by now renowned as one of the most exciting teams in European football, Dortmund reached the Champions League final at Wembley where they were narrowly edged out by Bayern Munich.
Buvac joined Klopp in leaving Dortmund at the conclusion of the 2014-15 season, but he soon made the move to Anfield with the boss where they will hope to lead Liverpool to similar success.
