The Sweeper Zone project has been a huge success and is now going into its 7th year. The project was set up to help clear litter on match days at Anfield Stadium and in the surrounding residential areas.
There are 16 community groups – schools, community centres, resident groups – involved in the Sweeper Zone project, all located in and around Anfield.
At each match 20 young people aged 13-16 years and 5 leaders meet 2 hours before kick-of at the Sweeper Zone base in Breckfield Junior School. They then go out in small groups to clean up litter around the area of the stadium.
As a reward for contributing their time and effort to keeping the Anfield and Breckfield areas clean and tidy they receive a free ticket to stay and watch the Liverpool game.
Last season we gave over 700 free match tickets for the Sweeper Zone project.
The project also partners with Enterprise-Liverpool and has a bright red street cleaning vehicle that works cleaning within the area both on match and non-match days.
