Tom Wilkie was a defender who played for the club during the last few years of the 19th century. He made his debut on the opening day of the 1895-96 season, a 3-2 away win at Notts. County. In all he played in 20 of the 30 league fixtures that season, which included his only Liverpool goal vs Leicester Fosse in November 1895. He also played in one the 'Test Matches' at the end of the season, which cleared up the promotion and relegation issues of the day.
Wilkie established himself as the club's first-choice left-back in 1896-97, making 25 consecutive league appearances before being replaced by Billy Dunlop for the last five matches of the season. However, Wilkie only played another 12 times over the next two seasons and his final game for the club came in a First Division fixture at Bury on November 19, 1898. Portsmouth was Wilkie's next destination. He had a successful career at Pompey, playing 178 matches from 1899-1904.
