Emiliano Insua is relishing the opportunity to help Argentina reach the World Cup finals and admits it will be 'special' to play for the legendary Diego Maradona.
The Reds full-back has been named in his country's squad ahead of qualifiers against Peru and Uruguay and now hopes to make a good impression on what is his first ever call-up at senior level.
"It is very special," Insua told Liverpoolfc.tv following the 6-1 hammering of Hull. "Argentina are fighting for their place in the World Cup and I want to help my country get there. I am very happy.
"Everyone knows how good Maradona was as a player, so it will be fantastic for me to play under him as a coach. I hope we can make it to South Africa and would love to play my part."
Insua capped news of his call-up by producing another superb display against Hull as Fernando Torres inspired the Reds to victory.
The Spaniard has been in irrepressible form of late and Insua admits he has run out of superlatives to describe the forward's goalscoring exploits.
"He is one of the best strikers in the world," he said. "It is incredible to play with him. He is a great player but he is also a great person too. I enjoy playing alongside him - I wouldn't want to play against him."
He added: "In the first-half it was more difficult for us because they (Hull) tried to press high. It was easier in the second-half, we played more freely and scored a lot of goals."
