Jamie Carragher is hoping referee Lee Mason will have a change of heart and rescind the red card he received during Liverpool's latest defeat.
Liverpool will appeal the decision which meant they ended the game against Fulham with nine men, as they believe there is enough evidence to prove Mason made a mistake in showing Carragher a red card.
Television replays confirmed that Carragher got a toe to the ball when he tangled with Bobby Zamora, while the striker - who scored the first of Fulham's three goals - told Mason that Carragher had not committed a foul.
Mason, though, stuck to his guns and sent Carragher off for the first time in more than seven years but Liverpool's skipper is keeping his fingers crossed that the official will review his decision if he has another look at it.
""I felt it was wrong at the time and I have looked at it again since," said Carragher. "I just got my toe on the ball but the referee was behind us. It was maybe not the best position for him to be in.
"But it's always a giveaway when the player you are tackling gets up and says that you won the ball. I felt I had got it at the time and when Zamora got up and said the same thing, you don't need to say much else.
"The Fulham players came off at the end and said they didn't think it was a red card but it's just one of those things. Hopefully the referee will have a look at it for us and if he sees that I have won the ball, maybe he will change it."
The one thing that Carragher would want to change most of all from Saturday's trip to Craven Cottage is a result which has plunged Liverpool's season into further disarray and unravelled all the good work they did against Manchester United.
Had Liverpool poked their noses in front during the opening 20 minutes, they would surely have won the game in a canter but, once again, mistakes meant Rafa Benitez's men paid a heavy price.
"For long periods of the game, we absolutely dominated so to come away with another defeat has left us scratching our heads a little bit but it is another massive disappointment," said Carragher.
"We started very well but Fulham had one attack in the first half and scored. A great goal by Fernando (Torres) got us back into it and we were thinking that we would go on and win it in the second half. We started okay but they scored from a mix up.
"After that, there were a couple of red cards and with nine men it becomes virtually impossible. Fernando has had a lot of problems lately and the longer he stays on the pitch, the more chance he has got of sustaining an injury."
Torres looked the one man capable of causing Fulham's defenders trouble but Carragher was quick to defend Benitez's surprise decision to substitute the Spaniard.
"We know Fernando is not quite 100 per cent," Carragher said. "If Fernando had got injured at the end, we would have had virtually nobody for the game in midweek but we still brought a Dutch international in Ryan Babel on. It should be enough quality."
