Liverpool have submitted a bid for Southampton and England playmaker Adam Lallana, according to the BBC.
The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for the Saints captain in recent weeks and the BBC have now claimed the Reds have submitted a formal offer.
Southampton have stressed on a number of occasions they are not seeking to sell Lallana, who is expected to be included in the England World Cup squad, but the player himself has indicated he is keen to test himself in the Champions League, and Liverpool can offer him the chance to compete in Europe's top competition next term.
It is thought Liverpool's bid is in the region of £20million but it remains to be seen as to whether that will be enough to convince Saints to sell the midfielder.
