Teenage Wrexham goalkeeper Danny Ward is set to join Liverpool for an initial fee believed to be in the region of £100,000.
The Wales U19 international, a product of the Dragons' Centre of Excellence, yesterday underwent a medical at Liverpool's Melwood training complex and excitedly used the social networking site Twitter to confirm he had come through it with flying colours.
Although there was no official confirmation of the move from either club last night, it's likely that in addition to the initial fee Wrexham will be in line for further payments if 18-year-old Ward fulfils his potential and goes on to play first-team football for either Liverpool or Wales, and there will also be a sell-on clause should the youngster move elsewhere to further his career.
Ward, who joined his hometown club as a 14-year-old, is in his final year at the Centre of Excellence and, although he has not had a first-team outing for the Dragons, he made his senior debut in a one-off loan game for their Blue Square Bet Premier League rivals Tamworth last season, winning the man-of-the-match award for his display against Hayes & Yeading.
