Kenny Dalglish has hailed the "brilliance" of Luis Suarez and says the Liverpool FCstriker's scintillating form proves his total commitment to the club.
The Kop legend says he watched in awe from the directors box on Wednesday night as the Uruguayan helped himself to a remarkable four-goal haul against Norwich City.
Suarez now boasts 13 Premier League goals in just nine games this season and Dalglish believes the 26-year-old is in the form of his life ahead of today's visit of West Ham.
"I was privileged the other night to watch Luis in full swing," Dalglish told the ECHO.
"When he scores he lights the place up. You can see what it means to him.
"He loves his football and has total respect for the club and the supporters. We're seeing the very best of the wee man and long may it continue."
The sheer quality and variety of Suarez's goals against the Canaries sparked a debate about which strike was his best. Dalglish can't look the beyond the stunning 40-yard lob he sent dipping over the helpless John Ruddy.
"I'd need to go with the first one because of the importance of it being the opening goal," he said.
"The vision, awareness, confidence and talent to hit it first time from there was remarkable. With the swerve and dip he got on the ball, no keeper would have saved that.
"His second goal was undermined because of the brilliance of the other three but that was a really good one too - the technique to do that is very difficult."
Suarez was signed from Ajax for £22.8million in January 2011 during Dalglish's second spell as manager.
Since then he has plundered 64 goals in 104 games - leading to talk that the current No 7 could one day be mentioned in the same breath as Dalglish, who wore that iconic shirt with such distinction,
"There's no point comparing players from different generations. You can only judge Luis on what he's done since he's come to Liverpool and he's been absolutely outstanding," Dalglish said.
"He was coming in anyway before I took over as manager. We knew what he had done for Ajax and what he was capable of doing.
"We never put any pressure on him, just asked him to do the best he possibly could.
"It's fantastic to see him playing so well for the club and sticking the ball in the back of the net. He has gone from strength to strength."
Dalglish will be at Anfield once again today - two months after he accepted the owners' offer of returning to the club as a non-executive director.
"What does it involve? Well, I get a good seat to watch the match," he joked.
"I always said I would help the club in any way I could. If they felt I could be of any use to them then not a problem.
"Liverpool Football Club has done enough to help me and my family over the years. If I can help the club in any way I will."
His long association with the Reds is detailed in the impressive new Sport Media publication 'Kenny Dalglish: My Life'.
He reflects on his life and shares his memories from growing up in Glasgow to his glory days at Celtic and Liverpool.
"It's a different kind of book - not too many words and lots of photographs, many of which I had never seen before," he said.
"Throughout my football career I was very fortunate that the people I played and worked with were of such high quality.
"There is no-one I've worked with who I couldn't sit down and have a cup of tea with.
"It's no coincidence that the Liverpool Former Players Association is so strong. The boys are still friendly and socialise with each other.
"That shows you how close the bond was in the dressing room and explains why we were so successful. Everyone respected the traditions and heritage of the football club."
