Sevilla continue to dig their heels in over the sale of full-back Alberto Moreno to Liverpool.
And the Spanish club have told the Reds to meet their asking price otherwise the 22-year-old is staying put.
Moreno is expected to line-up for Sevilla tomorrow night in the Uefa Super Cup against Real Madrid in Cardiff but Liverpool are still hopeful of securing his services.
Manager Brendan Rodgers made signing a left-back a priority this summer and quickly made his move for the Spain U21 international.
Liverpool had looked to have tied up a deal for Moreno but the transfer hit a snag and the Reds began to look elsewhere. However their interest was revived this month and hopes were high that the Reds could tie up a deal before the start of the Premier League season this week.
However, Sevilla president Jose Castro insists Moreno will not be transferred to Anfield unless Liverpool meet their valuation of the player - believed to be in the region of £20m.
A compromise of £16m looked close to being agreed last week but Castro's comments today have placed th deal in doubt yet again.
"There have been negotiations [for Moreno], eight or 10 days ago, but there has been no agreement and nor is there today," Castro said.
"If Liverpool's offer is suitable he will leave.
"If not, he'll stay and nothing will happen, absolutely nothing. We'll be at ease."
Sevilla coach Unai Emery was quoted as saying tonight: "I expect tomorrow he will play with us and I don't know if there is anything with Liverpool."
