Hamburg believe they are close to agreeing a new deal with Turkish starlet Hakan Calhanoglu but still fear a late move from Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea or Manchester City could persuade the player not to sign.
Calhanoglu was closely monitored by Liverpool and Arsenal over the summer, and Chelsea and Manchester City have also sent scouts to watch the player - dubbed 'the new Mesut Ozil' as a result of his exceptional technique - in action in recent times.
But Hamburg hope that the 19-year-old can be persuaded to stay and continue his development in the Bundesliga, despite the interest from the Premier League.
Indeed, the German club have put an offer on the table that would see Calhanoglu double his salary to £800,000 a year with the possibility of earning an extra £400,000 in bonuses.
And the player's agent, Bektas Demirtas, believes that it is only a matter of time until the deal is signed, with the English clubs yet to formalise their interest.
Demirtas told Bild: "Hamburg is our single point of contact.
"There is no pressure.
"We see things as very positive.
"The numbers were exchanged and we are on a good path."
