Liverpool target Keisuke Honda is on the verge of joining Italian side Lazio from CSKA Moscow, according to reports in Italy.
The 25-year-old has recently recovered from a knee injury and his return to fitness has triggered a wave of interest in the Japan international.
The Anfield side have been linked with the forward for almost two years but they are about to lose out on his signature, with the Serie A club close to agreeing a fee, believed to be around £14m.
Liverpool have had great financial success by tapping into the Middle-Eastern market and Honda brings not just goals but also huge appeal to millions of Asian football fans.
CSKA were believed to be reluctant to negotiate in the current window but Corriere Dello Sport has revealed that Lazio's willingness to match their valuation, with £10m cash plus a player, has convinced them to do business.
Honda has hit seven goals in 19 league appearances in the Russian top-flight this season.
