Adam Lallana is pleading with Southampton to let him join Liverpool this summer before this summer's World Cup.
The attacking midfielder, who is celebrating his 26th birthday today, looks certain to say his farewells to the St Mary's faithful at tomorrow's final game of the season with Manchester United.
Lallana reportedly met Saints executive director Les Reed last night in an attempt to force through a move.
Liverpool have already made Lallana the subject of a £20million bid but Brendan Rodgers' men could be dragged into a bidding war with United also planning to flex their muscles.
However, Anfield appears to be his preferred destination and Lallana is keen to force the issue and get his future sorted so that he can concentrate on the World Cup.
He hopes that, after 14 years' service with the club, Saints will not stand in his way.
