Metro: Reds close in on target

Liverpool are in pole position to sign Memphis Depay after making an offer to bring him to Anfield.

The PSV winger, who is also a target for Manchester United, has been given the green light to change clubs this summer.

United had appeared to be in the driving seat, but reports say Liverpool have made a bid in excess of £18million and are now hopeful of doing business.

The Red Devils are also believed to have made an offer, but Liverpool are prepared to up their bid to £23.7million in order to win the race.

Depay is tipped for a big future and wrapping up this transfer would be a major coup.
