Liverpool and Manchester City are set to battle for Middlesbrough starlet Ben Gibson.
The England U21 international has come through Boro's academy system and is now a regular under Aitor Karanka, who has turned the club into promotion contenders.
The 19-year-old penned a new long-term deal in August, guaranteeing that Boro would get a sizeable fee.
Gibson is a life-long Boro fan, stemming from the fact his uncle is Boro chairman Steve Gibson.
He would be loathe to lose his nephew but with the FA pushing for new homegrown rules, Premier League clubs are on the lookout for the best English talent and Gibson is one of the country's emerging talents.
Gibson - who can play full-back as well as in central defence - could command a fee as high as £10million and it is understood that City have joined Liverpool will step up interest in the summer.
