Arsenal and Liverpool are battling for Hamburg's super young Turkish star Hakan Calhanoglu, writes Alan Nixon of the Sunday People.
Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers are sending top spies to watch the teenage talent this weekend on the back of his stunning progress in the Bundesliga.
Calhanoglu scored for Hamburg last weekend and is now a regular in the side, with his attacking style also winning him his first cap at 19.
The Gunners have been big fans of players groomed in Germany and they have made inquiries about Calhanoglu's availability.
But now Liverpool have joined the hunt - with Rodgers keen to recruit next month as his squad is on the small side.
Calhanoglu could have his pick of clubs in January, with the two Premier League giants on alert in case he is for sale.
Hamburg may cash in on Calhanoglu as they are mid-table and unlikely to make the financial windfall of the Champions League.
The youngster only made his Hamburg debut at the start of the campaign but has had a full season on loan at Karlsruhe and is a regular scorer.
