Liverpool are ready to make a move for Barcelona youngster Jeffren, after the exciting young attacker claimed he was 'proud' to be linked with a switch to Anfield.
The Venezuelan-born 23-year-old was in action for the Spanish Under-21 side that drew 1-1 against England and is a product of Barcelona's infamous 'La Masia' academy, which famously produced Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Xavi, who were involved in a clean sweep of nominations for the most recent Ballon D'Or.
However, the glut of top class talent at Pep Guardiola's disposal has left little opportunity for Jeffren, with the aforementioned stars as well as the likes of David Villa and Pedro restricting his chances to shine.
Jeffren featured heavily for the Barcelona B setup, but is yet to solidify a place in the first team setup, and the Spain U21 star has been restricted to just 13 appearances for the Catalan giants in their most recent campaign.
He played 80 minutes against England on Sunday night and would have impressed many with his ability on the ball, while Dalglis will have had yet another chance to watch the youngster in action against his latest signing Jordan Henderson.
With Jeffren only featuring on the very fringes of Pep Guardiola's plans, the Liverpool resurgence under Kenny Dalglish has built momentum and looks certain to be added to in the summer.
Dalglish has made no secret of his desire to acquire wide options in a bid to provide service for £35 million powerhouse Andy Carroll. Linked with the likes of Florent Malouda, Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Sylvain Marveaux, it is clear that a winger will be introduced to Anfield in the next couple of months.
Jeffren's focus is now currently on the upcoming Under-21 tournament, and particularly this evenings clash with England, but the youngster has hinted that would be open to a move to Liverpool after the tournament in Denmark, insisting that he was "proud" of their interest in him.
"I do not think about that [transfer talk] now," Jeffren was quoted as saying by talkSport. "I'm here and I am thinking about what we're doing [with Spain]."
The truth is that when teams like Liverpool are mentioned I am proud of their interest and we'll see what it does to me."
