Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is lining up a move for Standard Liege striker Milan Jovanovic but not until the summer.
The Serbian international is out of contract in the summer and is wanted by a host of clubs across Europe including AC Milan but Liverpool appear to have stolen the march on their rivals and there are reports of a three year deal been offered.
Jovanovic is a regular for the Serbia national team and it is in Liverpool's interest to have him signed up before the World Cup or his price could then soar.
Jovanovic said earlier this month: "News that I have already said yes to AC Milan is not correct. I am still waiting, I haven't decided.
"AC Milan are not the only club interested in me.
"There is also Liverpool and another big European club. I repeat - my options are still very open."
