Monaco have become the latest team to fail in an attempt to snare Liverpool and Chelsea target Arda Turan.
Sources in Spain claim the Principality moneybags were unsuccessful as they tried to pair the Turkey star with his former Atletico Madrid team-mate Radamel Falcao, who made a big-money move to the Ligue 1 team earlier this summer.
Atletico are desperate to keep hold of the 26-year-old, who has been the subject of FIVE bids since the end of last season.
An unnamed English club are believed to have activated his £20.5m release clause fee but Turan turned them down as he wants to see out his current contract, which expires in 2015.
Liverpool and Chelsea have been credited with holding the strongest interest in him on these shores, but Arsenal and Galatasaray are also keen.
Turan has won 55 caps for Turkey and scored five league goals in 32 outings for Atletico last term.
